In May, enjoy what you like!

Saturday, May 25 is the return of the Open Caves, an event that has become a must for all Geneva wine lovers. The opportunity to explore the third wine canton of Switzerland and meet its actors in nearly 90 areas. A bucolic trip with friendliness, energy and good mood!

Each year in May under a mild spring sun, the Geneva countryside is transformed into a place of tastings and scenic walks on the occasion of the Open Caves. A festive program awaits visitors curious to discover or rediscover one of the treasures of the canton: the sublime vineyards of Geneva and its 1400 hectares of cultivated vines. Once again, everything will be reunited to find the grace and finesse of Geneva wines in its glass on foot. Free to everyone to taste, buy or order wines in nearly 90 cellars, with the possibility of having the wine ordered delivered directly to your home. As every year, the winemakers will be delighted to pass on to the visitors their passion for the vine and the wine and especially to make them taste the fruit of a year of work.

From Choully to Collonges-Bellerive via Bourdigny, the winemakers of La Cave de Genève are already looking forward to sharing a moment of conviviality with all the epicureans, passionate like them, of taste and terroir.

Initiation to tasting
For this 32nd edition, the La Cave de Genève team will be based at Daniel Dugerdil, in Choully, with a festive immersion program in the world of wine, thanks to an initiatory tasting course. Come discover the wines of the year and spend a moment while conviviality in an idyllic setting!

On the Soral side, we find the trio formed by Samuel Battiaz, Henri-Pierre Dupraz and Lionel Thevenoz, who join forces for the fourth year in a row at the heart of the farm of the Battiaz family estate and also propose a route initiation to tasting and a wine bar with snacks. “The year 2018 was exceptional and full of sunshine, we are very happy to present our vintages,” says Samuel Battiaz.

In Bourdigny, the “homemade” will be in the spotlight alongside the wines of La Cave! Burger with new potatoes through sauces and cheese, everything will be “homemade” and especially Geneva! “We are going into the production of homemade burgers this year! Bernard and Laurent Vulliez, from the Domaine des Vignolles. A way to pay tribute to the Geneva terroir and pair our wines with quality food. It will be delicious! “.

In Collonges-Bellerive, a “cool” party
On the other side of the lake, in Collonges-Bellerive, we find Christine Pilet-Falquet and her team of shock, for wine tastings but especially for the now traditional tasting contest. “The year before the contest participants were very involved! A lively debate was created and everyone was convinced to have the best answer … In the end, no one won! “Says the entertainer, amused. “Les Caves Ouvertes is an opportunity for us to get together, to celebrate the vineyard and our passionate profession, to touch the people of the village with simplicity. Not too fuss, we play it cool! ”

On the hill of Choulex, in the heart of the vineyards and a few steps from the church, the family Rivollet is preparing to enjoy the wines of the winery and the farm at the Domaine de Crève-Coeur. On the food side, the program promises to be Swiss: a trio of Geneva sausages with lentil salad, raclette and Tomme GRTA!
